History of Anchor Splash
Anchor Splash was established on February
19, 1966 by the Beta Tau Chapter at the University of Miami
in Coral Gables, Florida. Since then it has become one of
the most well recognized philanthropic fundraisers in the
Greek world nationwide.
Beta Chapter’s Anchor Splash continues to carry on Delta
Gamma’s long legacy of philanthropy. In 1936, Delta
Gamma selected Aid to the Blind and Sight Conservation as
an international project. Since then, Delta Gamma’s
philanthropic purpose has been to stop blindness before it
starts. Through the foundation, Service for Sight and Aid
to the Blind, the lives of thousands suffering from eyesight
related diseases have been improved in a myriad of positive
ways. Service for Sight and Aid to the Blind supports and
funds Delta Gamma-sponsored schools and organizations that
promote sight preservation and help children and adults who
are blind or visually impaired. These foundations also help
to fund genetic research, low-vision adaptive devices, tapes,
Braille books and hundreds of life-enhancing programs. The
money raised from Anchor Splash will support these valuable
programs that help women and men obtain independent living
skills, increased communications, and mobility skills needed
to overcome the obstacles of blindness.

Last year, the Beta Chapter
fundraised over $23,000 for our foundations;
this year we hope to surpass this figure and reach our goal
of $25,000 The success of Anchor Splash depends solely on
our alumni, parents, and the members of our Seattle and Greek
community.
